APRIL 2011

This April could be called the month of the “Warrior” with so much Arian energy coming together. As the month begins the Sun (identity), Mercury (communication), Mars (courage, drive), Jupiter (hope, opportunity), and Uranus (authenticity, freedom) are all flying the Aries flag! Then, on the 2nd of April, the moon moves into the fiery sign of Aries and on the 3rd is the Aries New Moon. Later in the month, on the 20th, Venus follows up and moves into Aries.

The fact is, it does require a certain amount of courage and verve to jump in again, take life on and start something new; and this month we are receiving it. A month of initiative, drive, action, independence and courage….whew!

MERCURY RETROGRADE IN ARIES

Mercury is still retrograde in Aries and will be so until April 23rd. With all the Mars and Aries energy flying around this month, this retrograde can provide the time to review things before making snap judgements and way too hasty decisions.

It is a great time to find the courage to call about that late bill you’ve been putting off. Or taking action to acquire information about a new life path you’re considering. It could be a good time to take the initiative to create stronger communication with someone by courageously and honestly expressing your perspective; then actively and openly listening to the other person. However, when it comes to signing anything or committing to something that is binding; use this time to gather information and get clear and when Mercury goes direct and you still feel sure; then charge ahead!

AND THEN THERE IS MARS

Mars is a planet whose essence is fiery and all about drive, action, will, passion, boundary setting, and courage. This month Mars will be busy…

Mars in Aries

On April 1st Mars moves into the sign of Aries, and as Mars rules Aries, this turns up the heat on the expression of Mars. It can be a time when new directions in life can be determined and set in motion, independence can get a shot in the arm, and the passion and determination to begin again can help us all move forward in our lives.

This can also create the potential for frustration in things not happening fast enough, which can lead to tempers flaring, hasty movements, and words thrown out like hot lava; especially as Mercury (even though retrograde) is also in Aries. Because of the drive and quickness it can also create the potential for accidents, so move with care while Mars is in Aries, especially around sharp objects and heavy machinery. No kidding folks…

Mars in Aries conjunct Uranus in Aries

On April 3rd Mars will make an aspect of a conjunction with Uranus now in Aries. This will only last a couple of days. Uranus is the planet whose action is many times sudden, and can create changes through the shaking up, and many times deconstruction of what is no longer valid, to make room for new and greater authentic structures in life. It is a call for freedom and authentic change and in Aries this energy seeks courage, independence, and action.

Now, sometimes these sudden changes can seem to just bring destruction…like an earthquake; right after Uranus moved into Aries, Japan experienced a devastating 9.0 earthquake, and then the tsunami. This catastrophic disaster destroyed many lives and entire regions; it also brought into a frighteningly harsh light the instability and dangers of nuclear power during and after such a natural disaster. For many in our global community, this disaster rings loud and clear, that we may need to look to more sustainable and safer forms of energy; that we may need to develop and put into place new and safer structures. Time will tell what we learn from all this..

The particular house in your birthchart that Mars and Uranus meet up in , will reveal the area of life that you will experience some surge of Arian energy, initiating some level of shift or change; within you, and or in your outer life. It will also show where the potential exists for serious frustration and explosive and damaging anger if it gets away from you.

So..again, with Mars in Aries having a quick meet up with Uranus in Aries, it is a time to pay attention to where you are, what you are doing, and how you are doing it.

Mars in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn

Later in the month on April 11th Mars in Aries will make the aspect of a square with Pluto in Capricorn, creating a couple of days that can feel full of friction and challenges.

Pluto in Capricorn will for many years bring us the choice to either commit to something that we care passionately about; to use our power to bring that to the world and in doing so will deepen the meaning and purpose of our individual lives, or tantalize us on some level and belief to sell out and become obsessed and lost in a maze of power and control in some way; and ultimately lose our footing in walking with personal integrity and authority.

So we have Mars in Aries wanting to cut new paths and move forward now! Mars in Aries is charging energy with a fierce independence and it is clashing with Pluto in Capricorn, which is power and authority. How can each of us get the most from this? I think that if we use our drive, courage and will to move deeper into our own personal power and authority that infuses our lives with a deeper meaning; we can glean the gift from this aspect.

With this aspect there can be a couple of very intense days, where difficult decisions are made, so keep in mind that even if it feels challenging it is also a time and an energy between planets that can offer great potential for growth.

Mars in Aries opposes Saturn in Libra

As Mars begins to move out of the square with Pluto; it then moves into an opposition with Saturn in Libra. The action and will or Mars stands across the room from the caution and will of Saturn; there is a determination in both which creates a very powerful opposition. This opposition creates a strong tension between what “I” want and what “you” want; independence and inter-dependency.

With this opposition it can be wise to take into consideration the “other” point of view along with what you want. There can be something valuable to learn from both sides. Finding the middle ground between going after and claiming what you want with courage and vigor, and the maturity and self respect gained when we value our commitment to the important relationships in our lives is the path that offers the greatest truth.

NEPTUNE IN PISCES

Neptune moves into the sign of Pisces on April 4th. The last time Neptune was in Pisces was between 1848 and 1862; none of us alive now have experienced such a planetary passage.

As Neptune is the natural ruler of Pisces, sensitivity through feelings, intuition and psychic experience will open up and expand. Passion and commitment within religions will deepen and this sign change will also magnify the spiritual awareness and oneness that has been growing. Compassion and idealism will flow and the message of a new and inspired way of living in the world, in harmony with the world will flood the consciousness of many. The flood gates of divine inspiration and creativity will open, and I imagine that all forms of artistic creation and expression will flourish.

As there are different expressions of this energy shift, It will also increase the level and methods of escapist behavior that is becoming more and more mainstream, especially through our technological, cyber, virtual creations and almost like but not the real thing experiences through a program on a screen and who knows what else. This is not to say that technology hasn’t been and can continue to be innovative and extremely valuable, but it also can lead us to disconnect; from ourselves, each other, our lives, and our planet in a profound manner. Confusion and not seeing things clearly can also become pervasive.

As humanity moves forward in these times that include great upheaval, uncertainty, and change on many levels, we will gravitate to and find some kind of solace and connection, to these different expressions and experiences that Neptune in Pisces offers us.

Neptune will be in the sign of Pisces from April 4th to the beginning of August when it will move back into the sign of Aquarius until early February 2012. Then Neptune will move back into the sign of Pisces and remain there until the end of March 2025, when it will move into the sign of Aries.

JUPITER AND PLUTO

The square between transiting Jupiter in Aries and transiting Pluto in Capricorn begins to lighten up on March 2nd as Jupiter keeps moving forward, easing some of the tensions and stress with decisions surrounding growth and power, courage and authority.

The square that occurred last month made it uncomfortably clear that as we begin to choose new life experiences and directions it is critical to be aware that there are consequences of our choices; that we can dream big and work hard at something we care about, infusing life with greater meaning; or with a cup too much of impulsiveness, leap without looking and end up taking a path that can bring difficult lessons more than the joy of new life experiences. Truly this is an opportunity!

Therefore, as this tension lessens we can begin to move forward with a greater sense of courage, independence, passion and purpose supported by personal integrity and inner authority.

MERCURY IN ARIES

On March 9th transiting Mercury in the very last degrees of mystical Pisces and the last hour of the morning will contact Uranus also in the very last degrees of Pisces; creating a sudden flash of mental inspiration, stimulation, and liberation where your mind can open up to truly innovative and inspired thought…grab your pencil and paper and put them down. They may later prove to be a flight of fancy or something of substance.

Literally within hours fast moving Mercury moves into fiery Aries where some fear may come up, but also the assertiveness needed, to create some action…to start that needed communication or learning process. The flow of information coming and going will speed up. The thoughts that may occur while Mercury flashed over Uranus may seem to take on a life of their own and demand some expression.

Although this brief passage of Mercury through Aries is about the mind opening and actively seeking out to new ideas and information, also the courage to communicate and with independent initiative get things going. With all this flurry of mental activity …be aware that the potential exists for words to spill out too quickly and possibly harshly; that actions taken without any forethought can lead to tripping and falling; and later having to pick up the pieces.

Then at the end of March Mercury will go retrograde in Aries giving us all a chance to rethink, review, repair or redo anything we may have blurted out or begun a bit too quickly.

THE BIG NEWS..URANUS MOVES INTO ARIES

On March 11th transiting Uranus the planet of individuation, authenticity, and revolution will be moving into the sign of Aries the Warrior for 7 years. Uranus made a brief dip into Aries this past May through August and then it went back into Pisces.

The last time Uranus was in the sign of Aries was between 1927-1935; a time when there were massive changes within economic and social structures. It was a time where in the wake of all the changes genius had to push forward.

So for all of us alive now this is really, really big new! This is a powerful energy that demands expression.

For each of us individually it will bring forth the drive to re-align our lives with who we truly are; where changes will have to be made. However, change can be difficult and there can be frustration for Aries wants everything quickly; action and action now.

Now with this in mind, I’m hoping we remember and take with us some of the good of the past 7 years as Uranus was (and still is at this moment) in Pisces; certainly not all, but many have truly learned about divine inspiration, love and compassion; and experiencing the divine collective; that we are all one.

This sounds very “new agey”, but the truth is that for many there has been a spiritual awakening to our true natures. An understanding that our essence is the same, and regardless of cultural, social or religious beliefs we are …spirit..soul..eternal beings that are capable of great love, and I’m speaking of the love of humanity, the love of nature and our earth. The knowing that what we do to another, in essence we do to ourselves..

We are experiencing this new cycle of Uranian energy at this time and place because it’s the energy we actually need..to create the changes that will support a new level of awareness and authenticity into life. Understand that life as you know it now will change in some significant way. The key is to be courageous enough to search within to understand who you are at this time in your life. What in your life doesn’t feel real, doesn’t feel like “you”. What needs to change? And who will you need to stand your ground with in the claiming of authentic change? Be aware that rashness and anger, and even violence is a potential as reactions to this energy shift occurs, and that there are consequences to that.

Collectively we are already seeing all over the world people gathering and raising personal issues, demanding changes as they stand up to power structures. People are finding their voice, their need to be more independent and their need to live more authentic lives. There is the real potential for anger and violence as old structures that refuse to change are pulled down.

My hope is that we individually and collectively can create changes that support a greater authentic life; that we engage with courage and initiative, rather than fear driven anger and violence; and that we utilize our individual and collective genius in rebuilding new structures and a new world that has room for all of us.

JUPITER OPPOSES SATURN

On March 28th transiting Jupiter who recently moved into the sign of Aries will move into the aspect of an opposition with transiting Saturn in the sign Libra.

Oppositions create awareness and tension. Imagine that these two planets are sitting across the room from each other; giving each other that look as each is feeling that their position is the only one.

Jupiter is hope, growth, opportunity and in the sign of Aries is champing at the bit to go for new and big dreams! Saturn in Libra is serious, cautious, and works with self-discipline and patience to create peace and harmony with others. With this opposition the awareness and stress is between the independent spirit and the responsible relationship with others.. Basically…”I” vs “We”…new growth vs structures already in place. This tension can create frustration and anger and finger pointing as each side wants its way.

The spiritual work is to find a way to see both ends; to understand that both sides have value and something to bring to the table. The opposition isn’t about one side or position being the right one and other wrong, but that there is something to be learned from both positions, and that the truth that can bridge the tension and find higher ground is found somewhere between them.
